The Wanted’s Nathan Sykes undergoing throat surgery today
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 18 April 2013
And so we wish a happy 20th birthday to Nathan Sykes of The Wanted. It’s not often we pause to wish many happy returns to a popstar, but on this occasion I reckon it’s worth making an exception, given that the Wanted chap’s birthday treat is to have an operation on his throat.
According to The Sun, Sykes has been forced to bow out of all Wanted-based activity for the foreseeable future as he requires emergency surgery to correct a haemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cord.
Someone or other told the paper: “After the once-over by the specialist, he was instructed to have almost immediate surgery. Naturally Nathan is really worried as if it doesn’t work, his career is over. The rest of the band are not only concerned about him but also about the group. It will be tricky to continue without him as vocals will have to be changed. All their worldwide commitments are having to be put on hold”.
