Mercury shortlist announced
By CMU Editorial | Published on Tuesday 19 July 2011
This morning, Lauren Laverne announced the nominations for this year’s Mercury Prize in the basement of the Hospital private members club in Covent Garden. And here they are:
Anna Calvi – Anna Calvi
Elbow – Build A Rocket Boys!
James Blake – James Blake
Katy B – On A Mission
Metronomy – The English Riviera
PJ Harvey – Let England Shake
Gwilym Simcock – Good Days At Schloss Elmau
Tinie Tempah – Disc-Overy
Everything Everything – Man Alive
Ghostpoet – Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins – Diamond Mine
Adele – 21
CMU editor Andy Malt predicted eight of the twelve correctly, which is a damn sight better than he did last year. Not picking Tinie Tempah and Anna Calvi was a bit of a rookie error, though.
