Is MIA facing a custody battle with the Bronfmans over her son?
By Chris Cooke | Published on Thursday 14 March 2013
Could a custody battle be on the horizon between MIA and her ex-partner and baby-father Ben Bronfman, son of former Warner Music chief Edgar Bronfman Jr?
A seemingly angry MIA, real name Mathangi Arulpragasa, took to Twitter yesterday seemingly to rant about efforts by the Bronfmans to allegedly win custody of the former couple’s four-year old son Ikhyd.
MIA wrote: “Ben, you can’t take my son away from me… Just because you have money doesn’t mean you have the right… THE BRONFMANS WANT TO TAKE MY CHILD AWAY FROM ME. WHAT KIND OF SHIT IS THAT? THEY NEVER SEE HIM”.
She then added: “Every child needs the MOTHER, I GREW UP WITHOUT A DAD. If [I] grew up without my mother I wouldn’t be here”.
The tweets were subsequently deleted, possibly because MIA calmed down, or maybe a lawyer pointed out it’s not a great idea to fight a custody battle via Twitter. It remains to be seen whether an actual legal battle is pending regards custody of Arulpragasam and Bronfman’s son.
