Ill Aretha Franklin “unable to travel”, cancels awards appearance

Aretha Franklin is still seemingly tackling health issues, and as such has cancelled an appearance she was due to make at an awards event this weekend. The Queen Of Soul was, of course, hospitalised and had an operation in 2010 for an unnamed complaint, and has called off various PAs since.
In a statement released via Major League Baseball, who are hosting this weekend’s gala, at which Franklin was due to accept a ‘Beacon’ award for her part in the civil rights movement, she said: “I greatly appreciate being a Beacon Award recipient. Presently, I am unable to travel as I continue my treatment. I am working toward a full recovery”.
