Hilco is hoping to relaunch a small HMV chain back in Ireland with six possible stores, according to the Irish Times, which quotes estate agents Colliers International as confirming the restructuring firm is in talks with landlords at six former HMV sites.

As previously reported, when HMV UK went into administration in January, the firm’s Irish chain shut down more or less immediately, and it was then confirmed in February that, while talks were ongoing to rescue the British business, the company would cease trading in Ireland.

But ever since it was announced Hilco had bought HMV UK and would take the firm, albeit in a streamlined form, out of administration, there have been rumours some of the Irish business might also be saved.

It seems getting the right deal from landlords will still be key regards whether Hilco’s Irish ambitions go ahead, though if they do stores could reopen in Dublin, Galway, Limerick and Cork.
