Haim named BBC Sound Of 2013 winners
By Chris Cooke | Published on Friday 4 January 2013
The BBC having counted down the top five acts in its Sound Of 2013 poll over the course of this week, the time has come for a winner to be named. And so, the group we will apparently be hearing most of in 2013, according to the polled group of 213 writers and broadcasters, are Haim. There you go.
The sisterly LA trio steadily grew in popularity over the course of 2012, and were one of the most talked about acts at last year’s Great Escape festival in May. And, of course, you all remember their appearance in the CMU Approved column last March.
Also the talk of TGE 2012 were AlunaGeorge, who came in second in the poll, followed by Angel Haze, Laura Mvula and Chvrches. The full longlist also featured BRITs Critics Choice winner Tom Odell, as well as King Krule, Peace, Savages and The Weeknd, amongst others.
With the group due to release their debut album through Universal/Polydor later this year, here’s the video for Haim’s latest single, ‘Don’t Save Me’, which was released in December:
