Departure of Ticketmaster president confirmed
By Chris Cooke | Published on Monday 19 August 2013
The somewhat sudden departure of Ticketmaster’s Global President, Nathan Hubbard, has been confirmed in a regulatory filing by parent company Live Nation.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Hubbard was currently negotiating his exit last week. There has been speculation that bosses at Live Nation are of the opinion that they need someone from more of a tech background at the top of their ticketing company, as it morphs into basically a data-crunching business.
Though some are gossiping that Hubbard is actually going because of tensions between him and Live Nation overlord Michael Rapino. Certainly in the short term the outgoing President won’t be directly replaced. As expected, Ticketmaster’s top man in North America, Jared Smith, will take on many of Hubbard’s responsibilities, and both he and the chief of Ticketmaster International, Mark Yovich, will report directly into Rapino.
Who wrote in the filing: “This is a really exciting time for Ticketmaster, and we have an extraordinary team, led by Jared and Mark. We are looking forward to delivering even better products and services for our fans and clients”.
