Dave Grohl to premiere Sound City documentary at Sundance
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 5 December 2012
Dave Grohl has announced that his debut film, the previously reported documentary about Sound City Studios in California, will premiere at next month’s Sundance Film Festival. The film will explore the studio complex’s 40 year history, including the recording of Nirvana’s ‘Nevermind’ album, and others by artists including Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, Guns N Roses, Rage Against The Machine, Slipknot, Nine Inch Nails and Metallica.
Says Grohl of the film: “As a first time director, I am humbled to be able to share my passion for songwriting and storytelling with this incredible cast of legendary musicians, as seen through the extraordinary story of America’s greatest unsung recording studio, Sound City. Being included in this group of artists is a true honour, and the Sundance Film Festival is the perfect place to premiere a film about craft, integrity, and passion for art. I am over the moon!”
