The frontman of US metalcore band As I Lay Dying, Tim Lambesis, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife.
In a statement, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said that Lambesis was arrested in a retail park on Tuesday afternoon and charged with ‘solicitation of another to commit murder’. The person he allegedly attempted to hire, it turns out, was an undercover detective.
San Diego police spokeswoman Jan Caldwell told Reuters: “The information [about Lambesis’ intentions] came to us late last week. We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy”.
According to reports, Lambesis’s wife Meggan filed for divorce in September. The couple have three adopted children.
Currently in police custody, Lambesis is due to appear in court later today.
