XOYO turns one year old this weekend, and to celebrate the east London venue is laying on two special events.

Tonight, Chicago house pioneer Mr Fingers (aka Larry Heard) will be getting his funk on, supporting remixer du jour Jamie XX (pictured). Jamie, of course, is best known as one third of The xx, though he’s more recently branched out on his own, turning in remixes for Adele, Glasser, Florence and Gil-Scott Heron, while Mr Fingers was behind Fingers Inc and released some of house music’s most revered tracks.

Then on Saturday XOYO has one of the father figures of techno, Juan Atkins. One of a kind and one of the originators of Detroit techno, Atkins is a creative genius who records also as Model 500. Before his set will be the fast-rising drum n bass and techno producer Xxxy, plus Radioactive Man and Billy Nasty showcase their latest new joint project RadioNasty.

Both of these events are likely to be mobbed, so get there early.

Friday 16 Sep and Saturday 17 Sep, XOYO, 32-37 Cowper Street, London, EC2A, prices vary, more info at www.xoyo.co.uk
