Montreal’s Suuns – who in 2010 crept contra to Canada’s great synth-pop Grimes-rush via their first LP ‘Zeroes QC’ – are back again with new record ‘Images Du Futur’. It’s destined for an unhushed release via (who other than) Secretly Canadian on 4 Mar 2013, and, for promotion’s sake, the fifth of its ten featured titles, ‘Edie’s Dream’ has just premiered for all to coo over.
A subtler creature than anything on its long-playing prequel – an overtly caustic, boxed-in prog-kraut amalgam – it drowns its malign themes in a pool of plosive psych guitars; sounding a lot lazier than its pained lyrics (“I have a fear/ Do you know what I mean/ These same visions”) perhaps connote.
Suuns will play ‘Edie’s Dream’ and other live faves at Brighton’s Prince Albert on 4 Dec and London’s Village Underground the following night. In the meantime, hear that very track now:
