Approved: Library Tapes – Sun Peeking Through
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 7 August 2012
Originally formed as a duo in 2004, two years and two albums later Library Tapes became a solo project for pianist David Wenngren. His first release on his own was ‘Höstluft’, an abstract and beautiful merging of scratchy field recordings and distant piano. Latterly he has collaborated with other musicians, including cellist Danny Norbury and multi-instrumentalist Peter Broderick (on the ‘Sketches’ and ‘A Summer Beneath The Trees’ albums respectively).
Norbury returns again on the latest Library Tapes album, ‘Sun Peeking Through’, which was released last month, along with fellow cellist Julia Kent and violin player Sarah Kemp. Their contributions bring great warmth and openness to help create some of Wenngren’s most optimistic sounding music to date.
