Approved: Laki Mera
By Marc Samuels | Published on Tuesday 14 May 2013
Glaswegian trio Laki Mera have been slowly building a name for themselves by way of some particularly arresting and hypnotic music, as witnessed on their 2011 album ‘The Proximity Effect’.
‘Sweet Warm Dance’, the first taster from forthcoming long player ‘Turn All Memory To White Noise’, starts off as a piece of desolate electronica, with shards of ice cold synths, but things soon warm up, with hushed vocals from Laura Donnelly and more organic instrumentation, into a captivating slice of atmospheric downtempo mood-pop.
The accompanying bass heavy remix from South Soul Project loosens things up rather nicely too, relocating the track from Scotland to sunnier climes (well, alright, London, then).
‘Turn All Memory To White Noise’ is released on the 15 Jul on Just Records. Listen to ‘Sweet Warm Dance’ here:
