Approved: Jazz Jamaica at The Hideaway
By Paul Vig | Published on Friday 2 August 2013
A slightly different one this week – the sun has baked us all, so why not catch some of Jazz Jamaica’s happy summer vibes? Following on from a sell out at the Royal Festival Hall (having been upgraded from Queen Elizabeth Hall) they head south – deep south in London terms – to sunny Streatham where they’ll be spreading the love for two nights at The Hideaway, their adopted ‘home’ club.
The original Jazz Warrior and veteran jazz double bassist, Gary Crosby, has turned a musical concept into reality. With an emphasis on a laid back blend of ska, reggae, rock steady, lovers rock and jazz, this time they’re performing in celebration of Jamaican Independence. As introduction to the main event, there will be some jollity and shenanigans from two comedians: Richard Blackwood (2 Aug) and Kane Brown (3 Aug).
Looks like a goodun!
Friday 2 Aug and Saturday 3 Aug, Hideaway, 2 Empire Mews, Stanthorpe Road, Streatham, SW16 2BF, 9pm, £25 adv, more info from here.
