Andy Malt became Editor of CMU in October 2009, having joined the company in April 2008. Leading the title ever since, he has overseen the expansion of both the CMU Daily and the CMU website, as well as the launch of CMU Premium and the Setlist podcast. As part of the CMU team, he also advises on the CMU Insights conferences and in particular the CMU programme at The Great Escape.

Prior to joining CMU, Andy spent a decade in various guises in the music industry. He launched and ran a fanzine while still at school, moving the operation online while mainstream internet use was still in its infancy. After leaving university, he launched and ran an independent record label, Human Recordings, and enjoyed a brief stint as a roadie.

He also works as a freelance writer and copywriter for various other companies and publications, and regularly provides independent comment on music and the music industry, including for the likes of the BBC, Sky News, Channel 4 News, The Independent, Q and Wired.

Chris Cooke is MD and Business Editor of CMU, which he co-founded in 1998. Chris still contributes to CMU’s media on a daily basis, as well as heading up the CMU Insights consultancy and CMU:DIY education programme.

He delivers speed briefings at music conferences around the world; guest lectures at various UK music colleges; runs regular seminars for Sony Music, BPI, MMF, MU and IMRO; and curates the core conference strands at The Great Escape. He also wrote the acclaimed book ‘Dissecting The Digital Dollar’ explaining how the streaming business works.

CMU is part of Chris’s business 3CM UnLimited, which champions and supports the music, media, culture and communication industries through publications, consultancy, educational initiatives and live events. Through UnLimited he also publishes cultural recommendations service ThisWeek London and its sister magazine ThreeWeeks at the Edinburgh Festival; and teaches for award winning PR training charity the Taylor Bennett Foundation, which is enabling more ethnic diversity in the communications industry.

With degrees in English and Law, Chris regularly writes about, discusses and comments on the music business, intellectual property matters, and the media and communication sectors.
