Executive Director (Maternity Cover) role available at Nonclassical. London location with hybrid working patterns available. Apply by 9.59am November 6th. 

Location: London. Hybrid working possible with at least 50% of time in office. Hours: 4-5 days (32-40 hours) per week. Open to job shares. Due to the nature of the role, some evening / weekend work will be required (time off in lieu will be given).
Closing date: 9.59AM November 6th. 
Start date: 15 January 2024 (to include 5 days handover) with 2 days handover prior to 22 December 2023. 
Salary: £46,000 (pro rata, if applicable) per annum. 

The role 
nonclassical
is looking for maternity cover for an expected 12 months for our Executive Director from January 2024. We are looking for somebody with a passion for music and belief in developing artists alongside the experience to deliver the programme of activities while maintaining the financial health of the charity. 

We are seeking a dedicated manager, fundraiser and administrator who can lead and motivate the organisation’s small (but perfectly formed) team and roster of associate artists. They will be in charge of delivering a substantial and innovative programme of work, ranging from large-scale live events, to releases on the record label and in-depth artist development programmes with composers. Fundraising experience and financial skills will be paramount to sustain the financial health of the charity. Working with a wide range of stakeholders in this role will require strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Developing and executing our artistic programme 
  • Fundraising / income generation 
  • Finance 
  • Charity governance 
  • Audience development 
  • Advocacy of Nonclassical 
  • HR including line management of the team 

Essential knowledge, skills and experience: 

  • At least eight years working in a performing arts environment 
  • A minimum of two years working in a senior management position 
  • A track record of managing and delivering artistic activity 
  • Highly financially literate, with ability to set and manage budgets which marry programme ambition with realistic income targets 
  • Proven track record planning and managing fundraising bids and funder relationships
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team, as well as dealing with HR issues
  • Knowledge of the UK and international classical / electronic or experimental music market, trends and key stakeholders 
  • Committed to artistic quality and integrity
  • Appreciation and understanding of nonclassical’s activities across events, label and artistic development 
  • Experience of working at Board level
