Artist manager and promoter Dominique Czopor, who runs the Boileroom venue in Guildford and last year set up the we:Live trade body for smaller venues and promoters, was this week presented an award by the Noise Abatement Society, because such a thing really exists.
The NAS’s annual John Connell Awards, named in honour of the man who lobbied hardest for the passing of the Noise Abatement Act in the 1960s, “recognise local authorities, individuals and organisations judged to have been outstanding in their efforts to both reduce the impact of noise nuisance and seek to pioneer practical and innovative solutions to noise pollution”.
Czoper was honoured for her work to minimise the noise impact of her venue in Guildford on local residents, and for her efforts to promote effective methods of noise control across the grass roots live sector.
