Warner/Chappell announces new partner in Indian market

Warner Music’s publishing wing Warner/Chappell has struck up an alliance with the music company of the Times Of India Group, which will see Times Music represent the mini-major’s songs catalogue in India.

Confirming the partnership, Warner/Chappell chief Cameron Strang told reporters: “India has a vibrant and exciting music market that is well positioned to develop and flourish in the coming years. This deal further strengthens our global footprint and ensures we have a partner who will help us to deliver dynamic and comprehensive services. We look forward to working with Times Music to create and drive new opportunities in India that will amplify the success of our extraordinary writers and musicians”.

Meanwhile Mandar Thakur, COO of Times Music, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Cameron, the Warner/Chappell team and their exciting and important compositions. Our company is constantly evolving to ensure it is at the forefront of the changing music industry and the wider IP Management business. This partnership will be a further boost to music publishing following a recent update to the Copyright Act, and we have exciting plans to ensure that Warner/Chappell’s legendary catalogue reaches its full potential in India”.
