Viva Brother reincarnated as Lovelife

Having undergone a law-enforced name-change and then promptly broken up, I think most people assumed that oft-maligned ‘gritpop’ band Viva Brother might opt not to expose themselves to any further criticism and ridicule from the press and music-buying public. Am I right?

Well, guess what. The band’s one-time frontman Lee Newell (and potentially the remainder of the Viva Brother line-up – opinion is divided on that point) is back and recording under the alias Lovelife. I know this to be true from looking at Lovelife’s official website, which features several new tracks of the synth-pop variety (a novel move for Newell, who in the past has been touted – albeit primarily by himself – as something of a modern rock n roll saviour).

According to the group’s SoundCloud, the originally Slough-based Newell has taken an address in New York borough Brooklyn to pursue the new project. Since no other ex-Viva men have as yet appeared in any of the Lovelife promo, we’ll just have to assume they’re not part of the project and are still in Slough. And there we go again, assuming things like utter fools (and it has to be said, some commentators seem pretty convinced all the VB lot are involved).

Anyway. Viva Lovelife!
