Viagogo is official resell site for various festivals

Secondary ticketing website Viagogo has been confirmed as the official resale site for tickets to the Latitude, Reading, Leeds and Isle Of Wight festivals. Basically the promoters of those events have said that, if punters have to resell their tickets – either because they genuinely can’t go any more, or because they fancy making a healthy profit – then they’d prefer they did it via Viagogo. And if festival fans must buy their tickets on the secondary market, again, do it via Viagogo.

That, the promoters say, is because they are confident that Viagogo have systems in place to ensure that dodgy touts with no actual access to tickets don’t rip customers off. I don’t know if Viagogo also pay the festivals some kind of fee in return for the official status, or whether its part of some deal regarding the sale of premium ticket packages to the festivals. Probably one or the other.

But IOW Festival promoter John Giddings has said this: “With the recent media speculation over untrustworthy ticket touts we wanted to make sure that festival-goers could purchase tickets from a reliable source. The Isle of Wight Festival has signed Viagogo as they are undoubtedly the market leader in their area. They provide unparalleled expertise in secondary ticketing and we have absolute confidence that they will offer the best possible service to our customers”.
