Hardest working band in the UK in 2015? Go on, have a guess. Anyone? Yeah, of course, it was. Showaddywaddy. Obvious now you think about it, isn’t it?

That’s according to online entertainment guide and ticketing hub Ents24, which has counted up which music and comedy acts played the most different UK venues this year, meaning ‘hard-working’ is defined not just by the total number of shows on British soil, but on how much travelling from city to city an act’s touring involved.

The top 20 artists based on that criteria is filled with veterans and acts playing the nostalgia circuit, though there is some younger and/or newer talent too, including Laurence Jones, Allusondrugs and Sleaford Mods.

Though before these hard-working music types get too smug, you might be interested to know that the hardest working comedian – the magnificent Patrick Monahan (a favourite of our sister mag ThreeWeeks) – did 25% more shows than the hardest working pop group. So take that Showaddywaddy.

Anyway, here’s the list of hardest working musicians in the UK:

1. Showaddywaddy
2. Miranda Sykes
3. Bay City Rollers Starring Les McKeown
4. The Searchers
5. Laurence Jones
6. Steel Threads
7. Chas & Dave

While we are in list mode, here are the most “in-demand” live acts/events of 2015. Though, of course, high demand could be partly due to a scarcity of shows, as well as the popularity of the act, by which I mean, Showaddywaddy would surely top this list too if they didn’t play so many bloody gigs.

This top ten is according to Viagogo; you know, tout-central. And there was you thinking that secondary ticketing was evil, and then, out of the blue, a resale site arrives on the scene with a list. Yeah, a list! Everyone loves a list. Everything is officially forgiven.

1. AC/DC
2. One Direction
3. Ed Sheeran
4. Taylor Swift
5. Madonna
