Velvet Underground members to reunite
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 18 November 2009
The Velvet Underground’s Lou Reed, Maureen Tucker and Doug Yule are set to appear live on stage together next month, at an event hosted by music journalist David Fricke at the New York Public Library, to discuss the band’s music and legacy. They’ll not be playing any music, though. Sorry, I probably should have said that sooner.
The event will take place on 8 Dec and follows the recent publication of new book, ‘The Velvet Underground: New York Art’, which collects previously unseen photographs, artwork, Reed’s handwritten music and lyric notes, plus press clippings and other memorabilia. It will mark their first public appearance together since the group’s induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1996.
