Vector announces new alliance, moves into managing journalism talent
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 10 June 2014
Vector Management, part of Live Nation’s artist management division, has launched a new unit with Eric Ortner, a former American TV producer who moved from journalism and broadcasting into managing journalists and broadcasters.
And that’s what the new Vector division, to be called Vector OMG (Ortner’s existing company is called the Ortner Management Group, there’s no OMGing going on here), will specialise in, managing the careers of news and journalism talent. The new venture will look to apply some of the practices employed elsewhere in the Vector business to this group of talent, and look for synergies between media and other creative people and performers.
Confirming the new alliance, Vector Management co-President Jack Rovner told reporters: “With this new venture, we plan to take the best practices of traditional campaigns in the general entertainment marketplace while creating new revenue opportunities for journalists and other public figures. Vector OMG has great potential to challenge industry standards and pave the way for future non-conventional opportunities”.
Meanwhile Ortner added: “The changing media landscape has created a great opportunity for journalists, artists and brands to reach their audiences in new ways while retaining their core credibility. Joining with industry legends like Jack, the Vector Management team and the Live Nation network, creates a great launching pad for new and innovative ways for our clients and partners to amplify their impact and expand their reach”.
