Unsigned Guide

Music industry directory and resource provider The Unsigned Guide turns ten this month, and is celebrating by giving stuff away, which is nice. Though I’m sure it’s supposed to be the other way around when it comes to present giving on birthdays (which you’ll all surely remember when it’s CMU’s fifteenth in May).

New subscribers to the Unsigned Guide service this month will receive a bundle of discounts from music companies including Ditto Music, UK Music Jobs, Dawsons Music, Castle Rock Studios, Awesome Merchandise, Media Plant and 360 Mastering.

Also, on the company’s actual birthday, 20 Mar, ten subscribers will be chosen at random to receive lifetime access to The Unsigned Guide, a free digital album or EP release, three month subscription to Record Of The Day and a premium SoundCloud account. One of those ten will also get a free subscription to The Fly and a pair of Reading or Leeds Festival tickets.

Unsigned Guide Editor Louise Dodgson told CMU: “A decade is quite a big deal in the music industry, especially for an independent company such as The Unsigned Guide, and we’re over the moon to be celebrating such a landmark. We created The Unsigned Guide to help grassroots artists navigate the music industry and put them in touch with individuals and businesses who can help them further their careers, so it feels great to be able to give something back to our members!”

Founder Stephen Loukes added: “We wanted to introduce a blueprint for new bands breaking through in the music industry. The Unsigned Guide was always about DIY. We set out to help explain how the industry works and who does what. That’s still what we’re doing now, ten years on”.
