Universal partners with Brazilian bank on new streaming service
By Chris Cooke | Published on Tuesday 7 April 2015
You know what users of credit cards issued by Brazilian bank Bradesco clearly need? Their own streaming service, that’s what.
Of course, they could use their credit cards to subscribe to Spotify, Rdio or Deezer, all available in Brazil, but why bother when they could instead opt in to a less good streaming service for less money?
So hurrah for Bradesco Music, a joint venture between the bank and Universal Music which provides access to half a million songs and 50,000 of those pop videos the kids love so much, all lovingly yanked from the Universal catalogues, for a mere $2 (approx) a month.
Hailing this “pioneering partnership” last week, Universal Music Brazil President Jose Antonio Eboli said: “We have a vast and eclectic music catalogue and always seek new ways of bringing art to the Brazilians. I’m sure that this new service will be very well appreciated by the holders of Bradesco Music cards and we insist that they have the best experiences the music universe can provide them”.
