Universal appoint new classical chief
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 4 June 2010
Universal Music International yesterday announced it was appointing Costa Pilavachi as its SVP for Classical Artists & Repertoire. Pilavachi has previously worked in senior roles at both EMI Classics and, before that, Universal’s Decca Records. In his new London-based job he will “advise, sign, develop and work with emerging and established artists across Universal Music Classics’ operations worldwide”.
He will report to Universal Music International’s EVP Max Hole, who told CMU yesterday: “Costa’s vast experience and intimate knowledge of classical artists and repertoire will be invaluable in helping me to manage our classical music operations, which are a central part of our worldwide business. There is no one better qualified for the task, and I’m delighted to welcome Costa back to Universal Music”.
