TuneCore formally launches in UK

Digital distribution platform TuneCore is formally launching in the UK for the first time, which means that artists using the service to get their content onto download and streaming platforms will be able to pay fees and receive royalties in sterling rather than dollars.
UK fees will be £5.99 to upload a single, £19.99 for an album in year one and £33.99 thereafter, and £49.99 for publishing administration services. Artists then keep 100% of their revenues.
TuneCore was bought by Believe back in April, and on the back of that artists using the former may have the option to be picked up by the latter down the line, in much the same way Believe has worked to date with its own service for self-releasing artists, Zimbalam.
Confirming his company’s formal arrival in the UK, TuneCore boss Scott Ackerman said: “Expanding into the UK is a natural fit for TuneCore and part of our ongoing expansion plan to make it easier than ever for artists to get music out on the market and in fans’ hands, while also making money through a variety of digital distribution and music publishing services”.
He went on: “With so many customers around the world using our service, our goal is to support them at the local level, in the best way possible. We’re confident that this expansion will further solidify TuneCore’s position as a leader in international digital music distribution”.
