Tulisa fails to have assault conviction overturned
By Andy Malt | Published on Friday 16 January 2015
Tulisa Contostavlos has lost her appeal against an assault conviction she received last year.
As previously reported, the singer and English language educator was found guilty of attacking celebrity blogger Vas J Morgan at the 2013 V Festival in Chelmsford. She was left with a bill totalling £3020 following a slightly farcical trial at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court last July.
Yesterday, a judge at Southwark Crown Court upheld the earlier ruling, saying that Contostavlos had displayed “a lack of self-control” during the incident and that she “did strike Mr Morgan”. He did, however, revoke £300 in fines and compensation, though she will have to pay an additional £1500 in appeal costs.
