Tom Odell and Ghostpoet are to play live at the UK launch party for this year’s Record Store Day later this month. Benga will also DJ at the invite-only event, due to take place at Rough Trade East in London on 21 Mar. Record Store Day itself will take place on 20 Apr.

RSD’s UK co-ordinator Spencer Hickman said: “Record Store Day has now become an established part of the music calendar. What makes it special is the character and individuality of record stores. There’s nothing to beat the enthusiasm and atmosphere of a great record shop. The reason great indie stores succeed is that they love music as much as their customers do. Record Store Day is like one huge festival taking place in every part of the UK”.

It has also been announced that RSD UK will this year be supported by Clarks Originals. And the brand has created a collection of limited edition vinyl desert boots for anyone who gets to their record shop of choice next month and realises they’ve forgotten to wear shoes.
