Eddy Says: This week I’m mainly excited about… Snowside

Snowside

Now that dead-January is almost over, my thoughts start turning towards sexy spring and what I’m looking forward to this year. Two things come to mind immediately – the new Prodigy album (the latest single of which is on the CMU guys’ video service this week) and the debut Qemists record.

Which reminds me, I must mention the Xfm New Music Award for best debut album, the shortlist for which has just been announced. Thanks to everyone who voted for *our* nominations – The Whip, DIOYY and Dan n Scroob. Alas, only the latter has made it through to the final ten, which will now be judged by a panel of experts. Christmas kind of got in the way on that didn’t it? I wish I had galvanised us a bit better cos between all of us we could have swung it I reckon. As it stands, Dan and Scroob should obviously win, being by far the best album on the list, but they won’t as we all know and are intelligent enough to realise. THERE IS NO GOD.

Anyway, i digress…back to the things I’m really looking forward to, and right now, it’s all about the Snow, because I am just beside myself with excitement about this previously mentioned Snowside festival, which is coming together nicely.

I cannot stress how much fun this is going to be, with Secret Graden hooking up with us here at the Remix to create the best alpine festival going. All the legends will be joining us to get drunk and fall over in the snow.

This is a very ‘Boutique’ experience, exclusive and lovely. It will be a unique opportunity to hang out and spend quality time with some really cool and talented people, so I would urge you to consider coming and getting stuck in.
The combination of altitude and hot-wine-beverages make for very happy times, and we’ll all be in there together, day and night, drinking, boarding, smoking and joking… all the artists are very approachable and all up for falling over together. I’ve almost sorted my fancy dress, I would urge you to do the same!

If you’re a boarder/skiier, then just come, i guarantee you will have the time of your life. If you’re a novice, get lessons – like I did before heading out to the snow last year – at one of those SnowZone/Xscape places (I know of one in Milton Keynes and another in Glasgow) where they have real snow. Then you can hit the ground running (or skiing, or boarding) and just have fun without being on your arse ALL the time. I can’t recommend the lessons enough,
it’s possible to get to recreational standard in one (long) day, or two half days, and it is money well spent.

The scouting party has just got back from Nassfeld and they’ve reported that it is the most drop-dead-gorgeous place they’ve ever been to in the Alps. AND we’ve just persuaded METRONOMY to come out there and play, so what are you waiting for? Get on over to www.snowside.co.uk and book those tix.
