Just before this year’s winner’s single failed to make the Top 40, Kylie Minogue has said a polite but firm ‘adieu’ to ‘The Voice UK’ following the show’s horrific 2014 finale earlier this month, leaving a pint-sized feminine gap in the show’s still TBA coaching line-up going forward to series four.

A line-up that, as it stands, features… well, no one, since none of this year’s other coaches – Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson – have said they’ll definitely be back in 2015. One thing is for sure, though, which is that ‘The Voice’, like the Celine Dion song, will go on (and on, and on), the BBC having commissioned two additional seasons of the show earlier this month.

It’s time for some quotes now. First, Minogue, who wisely uses the opportunity to push some gigs she’s doing to promote her new LP, ‘Kiss Me Once’: “Hi Lovers, thanks to all of you for your incredible support throughout this past season of ‘The Voice UK’. I’m sad to say that, due to the timing of my European tour, I won’t be back for season four. I absolutely loved my time on the show, and I’ll miss all of the incredible people who were a part of my experience”.

Now it’s the turn of Moira Ross, Executive Producer of ‘The Voice UK’ producers Wall To Wall. Ross says: “Kylie has brought her own very special magic to ‘The Voice UK’ and we have loved having her on the show. We wish her well for her tour and hope to welcome her back in the future”.

The press release confirming Kylie’s exit goes on to state that “discussions for series four are ongoing and the [judging] line-up will be announced in due course”. And if that’s not reassuring, I don’t know what is.
