ITV has confirmed that it will begin airing ‘The Voice’ in 2017, which is good news because everyone’s already been saying that for weeks.

As previously reported, the switch comes after ITV Studios bought the production company behind the talent show brand, Talpa Media, in March. This always made the likelihood of the Beeb keeping its ‘X-Factor’ rival unlikely, and with its contract due for renewal next year, ITV put in a higher bid for the show.

ITV has now confirmed that it has agreed a three year deal for the franchise, which will include a spin-off ITV2 show in addition to the main ITV1 programme. As well as that, the broadcaster has signed a two series agreement for another show called ‘The Voice Kids’. That’s a kids’ version of ‘The Voice’, obviously.

Director Of Television at ITV, Peter Fincham, said in a statement: “ITV is the natural home of big entertainment so we are thrilled that ‘The Voice’ and ‘The Voice Kids’ are both joining our family alongside brilliant shows like ‘The X-Factor’, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ and ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here'”.

Wow, what a line-up of shows. They should totally do a special where they mash them all together. Maybe in a rubbish bin.

Talpa founder and the man who claims responsibility for coming up with ‘The Voice’, John de Mol, added: “We are delighted that ‘The Voice’ has found a new home at ITV. With the addition of ‘The Voice Kids’ we are excited about working with ITV in 2017 to develop and expand ‘The Voice’ experience for the UK audience after completing what we think will be a fantastic upcoming season on the BBC, who have been a great partner”.

Nice mention of the BBC there. I would have gone with, “Bad luck, suckersssssss”.
