The ten most-read news stories on theCMUwebsite.com in March 2013

Justin Bieber

So, top of the charts on theCMUwebsite.com for March was our round up of Justin Bieber’s slightly chaotic trip to London, beating a book written by the daughters of Lil Wayne and Cash Money co-founder Birdman into second place. And there’s a sentence I never thought I’d have to write.

In third position, a more recent twist in the child abuse case against Ian Watkins, in which South Wales Police referred themselves to the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The police force asked the IPCC to investigate whether they had too been too slow to respond to information about the Lostprophets frontman’s alleged actions before arresting him.

Returning again, and higher than last month in fourth place, is Harry Styles’ description of his perfect girl, while at number five is the news of the cancellation of some of Rihanna’s US tour dates due to illness.

At six is Universal’s signing of ABBA’s Agnetha Fältskog for a new album, just ahead of another Universal story at seven – the announcement by the major label of the merger of Virgin Records and Mercury Records in the UK to create new division, Virgin EMI.

At eight is the sad news of the death of Magnolia Electric Co and Songs: Ohia frontman Jason Molina, while at nine is a report on Bow Wow’s legal battle with French pornstar Celine ‘Katsuni’ Tran, and finally, at ten, is latest news on the pending sale of HMV.

Our top five features this month were an interview with Everything But The Girl’s Ben Watt about his decision to wind down his Buzzin Fly record label, Sub Pop in the Beef Of The Week column, an early Glastonbury line-up update, another Beef Of The Week – this time Morrissey ‘rickrolling’ David Bowie, and an Approved piece on a new track from Mutya Keisha Siobhan (aka the original Sugababes).
