The ten most-read news stories on the CMU site in November 2014

Blimey, we’ve made it through the penultimate month of the year. How did that happen? No, don’t explain, it was meant rhetorically. I know roughly how the passage of time works. Something to do with string and cogs. Anyway, having made it though the month of November, it’s now time to take a look and see what articles were most popular on the CMU website during that 30 day period.
The most-read news story this month was a follow-up to the news of the sad death of former Static X frontman Wayne Static. Although we still don’t know the exact cause of death, police have ruled out foul play.
Also popular was a report on AC/DC guitarist Angus Young’s response to bandmate Phil Rudd being arrested and charged with threatening to kill and drug possession. “He’s got himself in a pickle” might be the understatement of the year. Plus, with Ariel Pink’s new album out, a story on some rather incendiary comments he made prior to the release of his last rose back up the list.
And where would the month of November have been without Taylor Swift? For a couple of weeks there, it seemed that we were publishing a story every day on her decision to pull all of her music off Spotify. Two of those feature in our top ten, one on the initial pull-out and another on Rdio’s response.
Taylor v Spotify also features in our most-read features this month, an Editor’s Letter column on that story topping that list. Also in the top five most popular features was our interview with Japanese rock band Vamps, Approved columns on Fiona Apple and Alex Calder, plus a Beef Of The Week piece on Noel Gallagher’s battle against coffee.
