Teens prefer streaming to downloads the world over, research finds
By Andy Malt | Published on Thursday 2 April 2015
Teenagers across the world are fairly keen on streaming and not so fussed about downloads, according to research from GlobalWebIndex. Who knew?
According to figures published by MusicAlly, 60% of the nearly 5000 sixteen to nineteen year olds in 32 countries who were surveyed about their Q1 2015 internet habits said that they had used a streaming service in the last month. Conversely, just 21% had used a download service.
The research also says that Google Play is by far the most popular (30% having used it), while YouTube isn’t mentioned. And despite downloads not being liked overall, iTunes is still more popular (20%) than Spotify (12%). Stats, eh?
