And the award for most new appointments in a month goes to the expansive media enterprise that is TeamRock which, as much previously reported, encompasses a radio station and rock mags like Classic Rock and Metal Hammer.

And as TeamRock celebrates its first birthday, the firm has promoted everyone already working there and hired everyone else who wasn’t. Well, not quite, but there’s been quite a bit of rejigging internally and a string of new recruits, mainly in the magazines division. Didn’t they get the memo about the music media in 2014 being all about closures and redundancies?

So, here’s a quick summary.

A senior editorial team has been created, which sees Classic Rock Editor In Chief Scott Rowley becoming Editorial Director for the whole company, and Metal Hammer Editor In Chief Alexander Milas take on that role for the group too. Classic Rock Art Director becomes Creative Director for the wider business, while Managing Editor of Classic Rock Alex Burrows becomes Editorial Operations Manager. And this team will all report directly into TeamRock MD Chris Ingham.

Elsewhere in editorial, Merlin Alderslade becomes Deputy Editor and Lewis Somerscales becomes Art Editor of Metal Hammer; Dave Everley becomes Deputy Editor and Polly Glass joins to become Assistant Features Editor of Classic Rock; and James Isaacs becomes Art Director of both Classic Rock and Metal Hammer. Oh, and Hannah May Kilroy becomes Deputy and Production Editor for Prog Magazine.

But if you think that is it, oh no. Paul Brannigan heads up a new online editorial team as Online Editor for TeamRock, with Fraser Lewry joining the company to be Online Editor for Classic Rock and Luke Morton arriving as Online Editor for Metal Hammer. Meanwhile Martin Kielty becomes Online News Editor and Stef Lach joins as Deputy News Editor. And in the digital magazine team Aaron Standen and Mark Critchell join as Digital Art Editors while Emma Johnston joins as Digital Production Editor.

And as if that wasn’t enough to be going on with, walking rock music encyclopaedia Malcolm Dome becomes the company’s Archive Editor. Phew. And that’s them all. Leaving just about enough time for some customary quotes…

TeamRock CEO Billy Anderson: “In the last year we have launched a new radio station, created 53 new permanent staff roles across London and Glasgow and formed ten new departments within the business. At TeamRock we are surrounded by the best talent in the industry from Chris Ingham who has worked across all our titles since 1995 and grown them into the great products they are today. Jerry Ewing who launched Prog, and was part of the team who created Classic Rock to Geoff Barton who founded Kerrang!, as well as the new teams and people now in place. It’s been an exciting year, but TeamRock really, has still only just begun”.

And MD Chris Ingham: “A business like ours cannot operate without passion, sheer grit and determination. This is demonstrated in abundance across all areas of the business every day, so I am delighted to be able to make these key changes to the business from within but also to bring in new blood”.
