Suge Knight claims prison medical treatment causing blindness
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 4 March 2015
Suge Knight claimed in court this week that the medical care he is receiving in prison is causing him to go blind.
According to TMZ, the one-time hip hop mogul was representing himself in court on Monday having fired his lawyer (already the second attorney working on this case). And as if to prove his point about lacking healthcare behind bars, shortly after the hearing he required hospital treatment, though we don’t know quite why.
It’s not clear if Knight was losing his sight prior to being held in prison, nor whether he will claim it was this condition that led him to run down two men with his truck earlier this year, killing one of them.
As previously reported, Knight was arrested in January following the hit-and-run in which he struck Terry Carter and Cle ‘Bone’ Sloane. Accused of deliberately running the two men down, the former rap mogul has pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder, saying he was fleeing from an attack by another group of men.
Considered a flight risk, he has been held in jail since his arrest – bail initially set at $2.2 million having been revoked.
