And Finally

“Styles sent me rude texts”, says Most Haunted host

Harry Styles

One time ‘Blue Peter’ presenter and subsequent ‘Most Haunted’ squealer Yvette Fielding claims that One Direction heartthrob dude Harry Styles sent her “disgusting text messages” over the dinner table one night, when she and her husband dined with the then-not-famous pop boy, his mother and her partner.

Styles was seemingly friends with Fielding’s son Will, which was how he and his mother came to be dining out with the TV presenter and her hubby at a Chinese restaurant near where they all live in South Cheshire. I’m guessing the Fortune City, which is just round the corner from Styles’ childhood home. Look at me with my local knowledge. I was never a fan of their chips.

Speaking to Woman magazine, Fielding said of the meal time texts: “The last time I saw him we went for a Chinese, his mum and her partner, Robin, plus me and my husband, Karl. Harry was sending me disgusting texts from across the table. I can’t even repeat the words, they were so rude! He’s a Romeo, he’s very romantic. When there’s a love interest, Harry will go all out to get the girl. He’s totally obsessed. I think that’s what Simon Cowell saw in him, the cheeky chappie charm”.

Having grabbed everyone’s attention with the smutty texts claim, Fielding then got on with what she was presumably really there to do, which was to moan about how quickly Styles lost touch with her son Will once his ‘X-Factor’-fuelled fame beckoned. Harry and Will were best friends, she says, and had formed a band called White Eskimo, but all that was dropped quicker that you could say “weird infatuation with oldies” once the One Direction machine was booted up.

Says Yvette of life before 1D: “He called me his second mum, and he and Will lived in each other’s pockets, dressing and talking the same. In the car I’d put Elvis or Little Richard on and we’d sing along. Harry confessed that he wanted to be a singer, but thought he couldn’t make it. I told him to follow his dream”.

But post-fame, she adds: “Will texted Harry to see if he was coming home. They’d arrange to meet up but then Harry never showed. There were tears from Will and he said, ‘I’ve lost my brother, it’s like he’s dead’. William kept trying and was devastated, but had to learn to let go, because Harry was just gone. Harry broke Will’s heart. But I’m gobsmacked at how understanding Will’s been. A lot of lads would be bitter but he just says, ‘I hope somebody is looking out for Harry’, and I think that’s the mark of a true friend. I’ve helped Will through the whole thing with lots of hugs”.

So, that’s all a bit sad isn’t it? For the purpose of balance, we should stress that a spokesman for the Democratic Republic Of One Direction last night told the tabs: “Harry has never sent any rude or inappropriate texts to Yvette Fielding”. Yeah Harry, I suppose it was the famous Ghost Of The Fortune City sending those smutty texts? Actually, you should try that excuse; Yvette’ll probably buy it.
