Spotify’s Kevin Brown named new Official Charts Company Chairman
By Andy Malt | Published on Wednesday 2 December 2015
The Official Charts Company has announced Spotify’s Head Of European Label Relations Kevin Brown as its new Chairman. He will take over from BMG’s Korda Marshall, who is standing down after three years, next month.
OCC CEO Martin Talbot says: “I’m delighted to welcome Kevin as our new chairman and look forward to working with him over the coming years. He has a huge amount of experience, across many sectors of the music business – including retail, labels, management and, of course, with Spotify. I’m really looking forward to drawing on that breadth of experience as we steer the Official Charts through what is a fascinating and hugely exciting time for the entertainment sector”.
Brown adds: “The Official Charts Company is widely recognised across the music industry as best in class. I am delighted to take up the reins from Korda, and look forward to continuing to work with Martin and the board to ensure the UK charts reflect the rapidly evolving landscape of music and video consumption”.
As well as working for Spotify, Brown has worked with distributor RTM, indie label 4AD, former major label EMI and artist management firm 3D Artist Management. He takes the Chair role at the OCC as a rep of the Entertainment Retailers Association, which co-owns the chart maker with record label trade group the BPI.
