Ah, on-demand streaming music from the car dashboard, it’s the thing of the moment is it not? And as European car makers catch up with their American counterparts in terms of adding internet-services to the in-car experience, Spotify and Deezer have both made new announcements about Volvo-related alliances.

Spotify announced a new deal with Volvo at the Geneva Motor Show. Following Spotify’s recent confirmed tie-up with Ford on the in-car entertainment front, now Swedish car maker Volvo is also adding the Swedish streaming platform to its voice-activated Sensus Connected Touch system.

Spotify’s Global Head Of Hardware Partnerships Pascal de Mul says: “Spotify wants to make it as easy as possible for people to enjoy all the world’s music wherever and whenever they are. We know that the car is the number one environment in which people want to listen to music, so we are working to make Spotify available for drivers in as many types of car as possible. We are really excited to announce this innovative, hands-free in-dash Spotify service today with Volvo, so that even more drivers will be able to enjoy Spotify music safely while on the road”.

Deezer is also coming to Volvo cars via a partnership with the Parrot infotainment platform, which also works with the net-connected Sensus Connect Touch system. Deezer will become available via the Parrot platform from May in multiple territories including Europe.
