BBC Sound Of 2015

So, despite all our best efforts, it looks likely that not only will 2015 go ahead – even though confirming so late in the day leaves us with little time to prepare – but the plan is for the whole year to have ‘sound’ as well. I thought we’d at least agreed to take a year off the whole sound thing. I guess that means we’re obligated to relaunch the CMU Podcast after all. Oh well.

Anyway, here are the artists, the acts, the musicians, the creators, the people of musical persuasion, who might well be providing some – not all, but definitely some – of that sound during the year they’re calling Two Thousand Fifteen. According to pundit types questioned by the BBC that is. Basically, the BBC’s Sound Of 2015 long list is out. That’s an easier way of saying it, isn’t it? But I didn’t want that Huw Stephens getting more words in than me.

Here’s that Huw Stephens now, who’ll reveal the final five in the Sound Of poll in the new year: “It’s always an exciting time of year to take stock and look at what might be making us dance, cry and jump for joy into the year ahead. I’m excited because there are a lot of artists I and my fellow DJs have supported on the list, and it’s another great chance to share the music we love with an even bigger audience”.

And here’s that long list: George The Poet, James Bay, Kwabs, Lapsley, Novelist, Rae Morris, Raury, Shamir, Shura, Slaves, SOAK, Stormzy, Sunset Sons, Wolf Alice, Years & Years.
