Songkick data added to new Universal artists site
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 17 May 2012
Songkick has announced an alliance with Universal Music that will see the gig data service’s tour information included on artist pages within the mega-major’s recently launch Umusic website.
The artists section of Umusic includes pages for all artists currently signed to Universal labels, with each page pulling in links and content relating to that artist from all over the web so that, alongside the customary biog and photos, there are embedded VEVO videos or Soundcloud tracks, plus links to where people can stream or download the artist’s music, to social media and other online activity, and to coverage in a select few media.
And now gig information via Songkick, a rep from which wrote on the company’s blog yesterday: “Having Songkick’s touring information on Universal’s artists pages takes us a step closer to bringing Songkick’s giant concert database to all the places you listen to music online. While you’re checking out your favourite artists’ videos and recent tweets on their Universal page, you can see where they are playing near you and click through to quickly find the best ticket offer”.
