Eddy Says: So, what did you think of the Freeland album?
By Eddy Temple-Morris | Published on Monday 20 April 2009
So, we had the first ever album playback on The Remix on Friday night. And what a worthy album to fill that space we had with Freeland’s ‘COPE™’. It’s not out till June, so that was a real exclusive up front sneaky peek.
The twelve tracks that Adam has written are, of course, brilliant. But I was also blown away by the production. We all know what a great remixer Alex Metric is, but ‘COPE™’ demonstrates that, just like Ewan Pearson, we have a potentially great producer here.
While we’re on Alex, how good is that single of his? The A-side, ‘Head Straight’, is an absolute pop winner, and provided my mental soundtrack/earworm every day of Tignesfest this year. Look out for the B-side too, ‘Shirley…’ – it’s an insane club banger. I heard Pablo Decoder drop it in Tignes and it sounded awesome.
I recall that nearly two years ago I said that Marine Parade were on fire and that we’d have two immense albums to look forward to from them. And I think you’re about to find out I was right! Now I just need to get that Losers album a home… the first label, pretty much only label, on the list is Marine Parade.
Expect some Losers activity very soon, things are hotting up now and single number one is being plotted.
