Gloomy, apocalyptic industrial synths breed heavy in New Yorkers Silk Flowers music, redolent of usual suspects Suicide or the analogue drone of 90s electronic band Broadcast. Like their forefathers, however, the real joy in their music is finding the ‘pop’ moments, like the looping synth-pop hook at the beginning of ‘Costume’, which is taken straight from Vince Clarke’s songbook. Even the overbearing baritone on ‘Flash Of Light’ sounds less threatening and spooky with floaty electronica in the background. Take a listen at the link below.
