Approved: John And Jehn (SNAP Of The Day)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 22 April 2009
Like PJ Harvey without the yelp, Jehn’s vocals on new single ‘Oh My Love’ are magnetising, rolling over the pulsing bass line (another similar trait to PJ) and the repetitive few notes on the keys with viscous motion.
It’s the first single to be released since their eponymous 2008 debut LP, and the material is sounding more confident, stronger and driven, a fact particularly noticeable on the flip-side to ‘OML’, Lookin’ For You’, with its abundance of creeping rhythm and lo-fi drum machine beats. Francophones will obviously delight at their return, but their appeal deserves to be much wider that that.
