Approved: Explode Into Colors (SNAP Of The Day)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 1 April 2009
One of the more exciting new bands I’ve heard in while, Portland’s Explode Into Colors, caused a mini stir at this year’s SxSW, and justly so.
‘Heat’ is the personal choice, laden with afro-funk bass, crashing cymbals and the kind of groove and structure favoured by experimental German group Can. For the percussively obsessed, also check out ‘Sharpen The Knife’, which tracks guttural bass and echoing distortion on the vocals. The more leftfield-looking labels should be all over this.
