Skinny to launch North West edition
By Chris Cooke | Published on Friday 1 March 2013
Publishers of Scottish culture mag The Skinny have announced plans to launch a new edition covering the North West, including Liverpool and Manchester. Also distributed free, the North West edition of the title will launch on 2 Apr.
Confirming the new title launch, Skinny Editor-in-Chief Rosamund West told CMU: “With a dedicated regional team of seven full-time staff, initially based in Manchester, The Skinny Northwest will cover local music, arts, events, books, film and theatre”.
She added: “It is essential for us that it offers the same kind of specialist knowledge we provide in Scotland. Manchester and Liverpool each has its own unique creative communities and our staff have been selected to reflect that. At least half of the content – a mix of articles, reviews and previews complemented by photography from local contributors – will be reporting directly on what’s happening in the local scene”.
In Scotland The Skinny competes with paid-for listings magazine The List. The North West lost its Time Out equivalent City Life years ago, though there are some smaller local music and culture magazines and websites operating on The Skinny’s new patch.
