Former Sense Field frontman Jon Bunch died earlier this week, it has been confirmed. He was 45.

His family said in a statement: “With broken hearts and so much difficulty, we write these words to all of you who love Jon. He is no longer with us now. We think his life here ended early morning 1 Feb 2016, but it is uncertain at this time”.

Bunch’s latest band Lucky Scars also said on Facebook: “It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that we confirm the passing of our friend and fearless leader”.

Emo outfit Sense Field formed out of hardcore band Reason To Believe in 1990. They released five albums, though their career was stalled after signing to Warner Bros Records in 1996, off the back of third LP ‘Building’. The album they recorded for the major was never released, and the band was left in limbo as the company went through various upheavals. Eventually a re-recorded version of the record, ‘Tonight And Forever’, was released on Nettwerk in 2001. The band then split shortly after releasing 2003’s ‘Living Outside’.

Bunch went on to join Further Seems Forever, recording one album with the band before their split in 2006. More recently he performed with bands War Generation and Lucky Scars, the latter releasing their debut EP, ‘Rock And Roll Party Foul’, in December.

Sense Field briefly reformed in 2012 for two shows to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their original label Revelation Records.
