Roundhouse to host Summer Sessions, feat Jonny Greenwood and Sinead O’Connor
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 30 April 2014
The Roundhouse in London has sprung a summer multi-arts festival, the Roundhouse Summer Sessions, the inaugural edition of which will run at the Camden venue from 24 Jul – 24 Aug.
On its programme, amongst other things, is a world’s first from Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood, who’ll collaborate live (and twice, on 6 and 7 Aug) with the London Contemporary Orchestra to play his original score to Oscar-winning film ‘There Will Be Blood’. One-off shows featuring Sinead O’Connor, Ninja Tune signing Andreya Triana, Icelandic singer Olafur Arnalds and Kid Koala are also on the music side of the bill as it looks so far, as is Chilly Gonzales’ previously reported piano masterclass promoting his forthcoming book, ‘Re-Introduction Etudes’.
Forming the finale to all that, and under the Summer Sessions banner for the first time, is the also Roundhouse-based Reverb, which this year has odd-pop lady Imogen Heap picking its acts. Heap curates a line-up encompassing live performances from the likes of Tim Exile, Leafcutter John, and the London premiere of ‘Powerplant’, a new commission from Will Gregory of Goldfrapp.
