Former AEG Live UK boss Rob Hallett has announced the first hire at his previously reported new business Robomagic. Bonita McKinney, who joins the new venture from DHP Family, will work in the live division of Hallett’s firm with a specific remit to “seek out and sign up the music stars of the future and develop the careers of artists at the start of their musical journey”.

Confirming McKinney’s appointment, Hallett told reporters: “I want the most switched on people in the industry working with us and Bonita certainly is. Her knowledge of new music and new artists is incredible and she has a natural instinct for promotion. I’m confident she’s going to be a huge asset to my new business”.

Meanwhile McKinney herself said: “I am thrilled to be joining Robomagic Live. It is extremely exciting to be involved in a company from the beginning and work with Rob who is without doubt one of the best in the business. I’m passionate about making sure artists get the right kind of deal and they are given the support and expert advice they need to succeed. That ethos is at the heart of Robomagic and that’s why I’m here”.

As previously reported, although live music will be key to the Robomagic business, it will operate in other strands of the music industry too, with an intent to invest into the businesses of both new and established artists.
